What are “consumables” or “supplies” and why are they important?

Hydrophobic Filter

The Hydrophobic Filter acts as a barrier of protection to keep saliva out of the magnet holder. If the filter gets wet from saliva, it will close up creating sip & puff difficult. Simply replace the old filter and you are back to normal. This safety mechanism is inexpensive and handy for protecting against saliva damage. Generally, these do not need to be replaced as often as the Saliva Filters.

It is recommended to use the Hydrophobic Filter between your stick/magnet holder. It provides mechanical protection for the magnet/stick holder.

Line and Leur

The line and Luer is what transfers the pressure from the stick (magnet holder) to the inside of the QuadJoy where it connects to the pressure sensor. If at anytime you see liquid in the line, please change it out immediately to prevent damage to the pressure sensor. There are no more filters between the line and the pressure sensor. If liquid gets to this point, damage to the pressure sensor may have already happened. The line and luer are simple and inexpensive to replace.

Saliva Filter

Saliva filters impact the operation of the QuadJoy. A dirty or clogged filter will make the sip and puff features harder to use. Damage to the pressure sensor, a sensitive component of the QuadJoy can be prevented by changing these filters regularly and will ensure ease of use. The Saliva filters are not expensive to replace and can be purchased without a new stick.

Saliva Filters are important for prolonging the lifespan of your QuadJoy by preventing saliva from damaging the internals. These need to be replaced periodically to maintain a clean QuadJoy. Because of the frequency they may need to be changed, we have designed them to be cost effective and easy to replace.

Stick

The stick is a vital part of the QuadJoy operation. The stick is the part you put in your mouth to move, sip and puff to operate the QuadJoy. It contains an easily removable saliva filter to help protect against damage to the QuadJoy internals (specifically the pressure sensor). The sticks can be washed/sanitized in a dishwasher or washed with soap and water. You can use disinfectant wipes on the straw but you should always rinse it with soap and water before use.
