The Hydrophobic Filter acts as a barrier of protection to keep saliva out of the magnet holder. If the filter gets wet from saliva, it will close up creating sip & puff difficult. Simply replace the old filter and you are back to normal. This safety mechanism is inexpensive and handy for protecting against saliva damage.
It is recommended to use the Hydrophobic Filter between your stick/magnet holder. It provides mechanical protection for the magnet/stick holder.
